MARKER FAMILY
Luminescence Marker
Completely hidden in visible light, read precisely in the right spectrum.
THE SCIENCE
How the marker works
Luminescence markers consist of compounds that, when excited by light at specific wavelengths, emit a light unique to themselves. Under everyday lighting these compounds are completely invisible; they do not change the product's color, texture or appearance in any way. When the correct excitation source is used, the marker responds with a color and decay behavior defined only for that brand. This response consists of two components: the color of the emitted light and the decay time of the light. The signature the two create together is too distinctive to be imitated with a random fluorescent substance. Spectrace offers luminescence markers in two subtypes: spectral markers focus on the color distribution of the emitted light, while molecular markers focus on the timing of the decay behavior. Both subtypes are added to the product matrix in trace amounts and cannot be noticed without a calibrated reader. Verification rests not on a subjective visual judgment but on measured color and time values; this gives the same precise result both in the field and in the laboratory.
HOW IT IS APPLIED
Integration into the production line
The marker is brought into service in three steps without rebuilding the existing production flow.
1
Adding to the formulation
The luminescent component is mixed at a low ratio into the product's existing formulation or coating layer during production. The recipe change is minimal.
2
Verification on the line
A reader placed at the exit of the production line excites each unit as it passes and measures the emitted signature. It does not slow down the line.
3
Recording and tracking
Every reading is recorded together with the batch number; this way every verification in the field can be matched with the production record.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Does the luminescence marker affect the product's appearance?
No. The component is used in trace amounts and is completely invisible under everyday light; it does not change color, scent or texture.
Is a special device required for verification?
Yes. The marker responds only when excited at the correct wavelength. Spectrace provides readers calibrated for the field and the laboratory.
How secure is the signature?
The signature is formed from the combination of both the emitted color and the decay time. This two-dimensional response cannot be imitated with ordinary fluorescent substances.
Which subtype should I choose?
Spectral markers are recommended for colored and layered products, molecular markers for cases requiring fast line verification. Spectrace makes a recommendation based on your product.
